Introduction

Many of us can’t believe our eyes and ears as we see our democracy so threatened and a world facing global warming, realistic nuclear threats of war, terrorism, and international corruption. As we more deeply explore history, we can see the seeds of division between groups of all kinds have forever created wars, corruption, greed and hatred. It’s just that now that the world is so occupied and viewable by everyone with the turn of a switch that it has become more obvious that this side of life has always existed.

With 8+ billion people on the earth today and more than two billion families it is easy to see if we look at it closely that almost all of us enormously value ourselves and our family more than humanity or the world. As we stay aware of this it is clear that it is only a matter of time when so little of our time, money or energy is devoted to the survival and thriving of the greater good that we will threaten our existence. Does this make sense to you? Is it clear that the average family gives 98% of its vital energy to themselves and that unless this goes through a very large change a large percentage of us will have to die.

One of the elucidating realities that we can see is that to the best of my knowledge there has never been a time that the countries that are the most powerful have been significantly dedicated to taking care of those that are in desperate need to any real significant degree. Power is an addiction that mankind has shown throughout its history that it has never overcome. This is not hysteria or an exaggeration, and especially those that have wealth, power and extra energy are likely to be the most resistant to have quick rationalizations and to feel immune and distort their relative generosity.

The whole point of this series of articles isn’t to just create alarm, but it is to awaken the desire inside us to put a much greater percentage of our capacities to the world and those that are less fortunate and struggling for their survival. This needs to go beyond both guilt and idealism, but reach a place inside that feels motivated, yes even inspired to put extra energy into something beyond our families, religions, countries.

The emphasis on there needing to be international agreements to have any chance to stop the many power centers of the world from actions that serve only their own short term gains. How can we survive if the world isn’t able to agree how much we’ll tolerate genocide, massive starvation, economic inequality in such massive proportions. There is such a danger that even these words are read as idealistic, rather than grounded in utter necessity.

Even though it seems inconceivable at this point in time, it is clear that we’ll need to value setting up a power that is greater than the part that each entity represents that considers the rights to survive and thrive for everyone. We are attempting to outline a strategy for this to be possible, very likely when the world is truly aware that we are on the direct verge of killing ourselves and no-one is exempt.
